Torricella del Pizzo

The current community includes an old sixteenth century parish church dedicated to St. Nicholas. Consisting of a high arched façade and decorated with two niches, it has a single nave with side chapels. Its location north of the village was chosen through fears of flooding by the river. Inside the current-day oratory it is possible to observe the remains of the ancient, square-shaped tower, which houses an ancient effigy. East of the village you can admire a fortified farmhouse, dating from the eighteenth century, which has a distinctive tower entrance. The landscape that can be seen in this area is vivid, with natural images of great effect. At the Lanca Gerole reserve, which covers part of the flood plain of the Po, home of the most important stretch of the meandering river, special nature trails unfold, where visitors can observe flora and fauna typical of our plain.
