Corte De' Frati

Tombs and Roman inscriptions near to Pontevico testify that Corte de' Frati has ancient origins. The banks of the river Oglio of Corte de’ Frati were disputed by Brescia and Cremona, until the construction of a bridge at the beginning of the thirteenth century, which was also used by the armies of Frederick II, up to the battle that raged in the sixteenth century between the imperial Army and the French and Venetians. The parish church at Corte de’ Frati is built on the remains of the ancient castle, with several reconstructions due to the earthquake.
