The Oglio on the Cremona Side

Coming from the ruins of the Ostiano Castle or the wonderful square of Isola Dovarese, and continuing towards Torre de' Picenardi: through the villages touched by this itinerary you begin to appreciate those traditions and monuments that make up vivid images of times past. The tour: Ostiano (Castle, Port Spinata), Loc. Torricella on the way to Volongo (small oratory dedicated to the Assunta/Assumption and S. Alessandro dating back to the 12th century), Isola Dovaresse (spectacular Piazza Matteotti, S. Nicola Church), Tower de' Picenardi (Villa Picenardi Castle and San Lorenzo), Pessina Cremonese the parish of S. Giorgio, built in the late 18th century designed by T. Venturini, and the Oratory dedicated to S. Antonio with its primitive structure dating back to the 14th century, which has changed over the centuries. A pleasant walk leads to the hamlet of Villarocca where the late 18th-century Villa Fraganeschi stands attractively surrounded by dense forest vegetation.
